I'm thinking it might be easier than hitting up the cash machine. Oh, and thanks for all the laughs. This whole charade has been great entertainment for the past few weeks. Keep it up. And keep the reports coming in. I want to know if the crowd breaks ten people. Holy shit!!! Lee, are you out of your freakin' mind? Those are kids? Forget the irony that in your mind they are the problem, but WTF dude? If you can't get enough grown ups, who have the ability to make up their minds, to join your failing protest then go the F* home. Don't hire little kids to do this. Man you are one sick pup.

Here's something funny I noticed about the signs they're using: If I were totally unaware of this protest and I saw those guys standing in front of Discovery HQ with those signs, I would think they were cheering Discovery on, not making a demand that they change their programming. Then again, I guess that's a risk you take when you don't have a clear focus or purpose to what you're doing. And to think that Lee thought all it would take to get a multi-billion dollar business to completely change its course was to run a few ads in a local free daily newspaper. Who ever would've guessed it wouldn't work? But remember, Lee's the one who kept on saying he understood how the world works and that none of us "get it," despite several of us having actually properly studied or worked in the environmental and conservation worlds. I don't understand, it's OK for adults to destroy the planet and leave them no future, but somehow it's wrong for kids to want to save the planet? They should just shut up and be seen not heard while the world is safe in your hands? Give me a few days more. It's not over yet. You don't understand how it works at all. I did have high hopes for the ad, but I think that can be corrected.

Posts: 85 Feb 17 08 8:59 PM	It's all those dammed McJobs that made me big. Anyway, I seem to be experiencing the same problem I had in San Diego. There was also a lot of wishful thinking over there too, and there was what 'worked.' I still am from time to time stuck under this illusion that people are better than they are, or could be made better. There was a suggestion made today at the protest who said that if Al Gore were there, he could have drawn thousands of people and exerted the pressure needed to make this work if he wanted to. Not a bad idea at all. But most of people in his class won't do stuff like that to a specific company, which confuses me. Can you imagine what a draw it COULD have been if I had his name in just ONE ad? Now, there would have been the crucial difference. But, it's too late to go back and try to contact Gore (not that I would make in within one foot of him).

Look, I'm sorry your father asked you when you actually intended to do something with your life, but if you haven't figured it out by now, this clearly isn't your calling. If you think getting people's attention by literally throwing money at them is spreading your message, then you really don't understand people or how the world works at all. If your message and goal were clear and focused, people would be paying attention to you without you throwing money at them. I know deep down that your heart is in the right place, but your efforts are completely misguided. And as EVERYONE has been telling you, Discovery Communications is not one of the companies you should be targeting. But of course, this, like everything else, will fall on deaf, bull-headed ears. It's all those dammed McJobs that made me big. And BTW, take some fucking responsibility for yourself. It's not the jobs that made you big (and how, pray tell, exactly does a job make you overweight?). It's you and you alone who are responsible for your body. And one more thing: Have you tried contacting your esteemed Daniel Quinn about this whole thing? Something tells me he'd be right there with us telling you that you're going in the wrong direction with this whole thing. Of course, I'm sure you wouldn't listen to him either. After all, he doesn't "get it" either.

Discovery is just wrong, and they really need to change. How is it that "The Deadliest Catch" show is saving the planet? Oh, that's right, you can't answer that because the answer is that it's glorifying fishermen who overfish the planet. But why look at that? Concentrate on me. You'd criticize me for encouraging people to come up with ideas for financial incentive as if that were some how immoral. Don't you work for money as well? So how are you different than anyone else and the people I reward for ideas? That's how civilization has trained people to be, right? After all, when the first settlers came here and flashed that idiotic paper around, the natives certainly weren't impressed by it until they were later forced to work for it like those who brought it. Tell Quinn to call me and I'll talk to him about it. The french fries at those McJobs make one overweight.

First of all, we need to educate people on how the Discovery Channel is helping to destroy the earth with it's harmful shows. I can make a point-by-point showing where their messages are misleading people. The messages to me are loud and clear, but to others, it's more subtle and has to be pointed out to them in order to clearly see the underlying thoughts. Sometimes it should be taken from a certain point of view. For instance, a thousand janitors may not be affected to become fishermen when watching the "Deadliest Catch", but a handful of fishermen might find the show useful or even financially inspiring. Enough people might go into that 'profession' from just watching that show, enough to cause the overfishing rate to increase to disasterous proportions. But what are you worried about anyway? The Discovery people don't seem as annoyed as you. A lot of them smile our way.

The world needs people to understand and protect the environment, but protesting the Discovery Channel for airing shows like the deadliest catch because they are glorifying fishermen is not the answer. The Discovery Channel is actually glorifying the hard work and aspirations of the fisherman! That logic is equivalent to protesting NBC for airing shows like Law and Order because they glorify murder or FOX because they advocate breaking the law because of shows like Cops, get my point. Utilize your efforts for realistic causes and certainly save your money and donate it to actual GOOD causes like Green Peace! Think about how much money you wasted on kids and individuals passing by for a quick laugh; that money could have been used for causes to actually save the planet while avoiding making a mockery of yourself and all environmentalists!

Notice what you said: "The Discovery Channel is actually glorifying the hard work and aspirations of the fisherman!" You are ignoring the harm these fishermen are causing and focusing on their 'unselfish' efforts. These 'noble' fishermen are obviously working for free from your point of view. But what about the crabs point of view? What about the laws that govern evolution and natural selection as well? Are you going to pat these fishermen on the back when they have taken every last crab from the oceans and STILL commend them for their 'hard' work?

Eating too many potatoes can actually lead to overpopulation as mentioned in "Collapse" by Jared Diamond. As I recall, in New Guinea, a certain potato was introduced that caused their population to explode. Now, it's one thing for a creature to take one or two crabs to eat, and the crab understands that there are predators. But to wipe them ALL out into extinction is not the idea. Otherwise, Mr. Crab could not think at all for he and his species would just not exist. Growing a world only with potatoes at the expense of the creatures that do not eat potatoes will cause their extinction. Because those creatures are denied food themselves and our population expands it's land use to grow more....POTATOES!

Hmmmm..actually you can. You can find them in any true-crime or psych section of your local borders. Well Lee, yer back early? Rain scare you away? Perhaps the wind?
